What to do
AI-suggested
A fix is available that replaces the problematic function call with an internal variant that avoids mutex re-acquisition and adds cancellation of delayed work before acquiring the mutex. Users should apply the official Linux kernel patches that resolve this deadlock. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor advisory describing the fix.
Description
A deadlock vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mt76 WiFi driver was resolved. The issue occurred because mt76_remain_on_channel() and mt76_roc_complete() called mt76_set_channel() while already holding a mutex, causing a deadlock. The fix involved using an internal function to avoid re-acquiring the mutex and cancelling delayed work before acquiring the mutex to prevent secondary deadlocks.
