A patch is available and should be applied to affected linux-hwe-edge kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms the issue is fixed. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A deadlock vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mt76 WiFi driver was fixed. The issue occurred because mt76_remain_on_channel() and mt76_roc_complete() called mt76_set_channel() while already holding a mutex, which mt76_set_channel() also tries to acquire, causing a deadlock. The fix involved using an internal function that does not acquire the mutex and cancelling delayed work before acquiring the mutex to prevent secondary deadlocks. This vulnerability affects certain versions of the linux-hwe-edge kernel and has a moderate impact on availability but no confidentiality or integrity impact.
