AI-suggested

A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to resolve the deadlock issue. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this vulnerability has been fixed in updated kernel releases. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as per their distribution's security notices.

Description

A potential deadlock vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mt76 wifi driver for the mt7921 chipset has been fixed. The issue occurs in the mt7921_roc_abort_sync function, where a mutex deadlock can happen between roc_abort_sync() and roc_work() during station removal. This deadlock prevents progress by blocking both sides that wait on the same mutex. The fix avoids this deadlock and ensures proper work ownership. The vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28 and several specific earlier versions. A patch is available to resolve this issue.
