AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released in linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later. Users should update to these fixed kernel versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required as the issue is addressed by the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMD display driver (drm/amd/display) was fixed that could cause a kernel crash due to a NULL pointer dereference and buffer over-read in the SDP debugfs interface. The flaw occurs when the connector's state or crtc is NULL, and when the write size is improperly handled, leading to reading beyond the user buffer. This issue has been addressed by returning an error when NULL pointers are encountered and clamping the write size to prevent buffer over-read. The vulnerability affects specific linux-hwe-edge kernel versions and has been fixed in later 5.15.x kernel releases.
