AI-suggested
A patch is available and included in Linux kernel versions 7.0.0-31.31 and later for the affected Ubuntu releases. Users should update to these fixed kernel versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required as the fix prevents the problematic command from reaching hardware and causing a panic.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Intel NPU driver (ethosu) allowed unprivileged users with access to the DRM device to trigger a denial-of-service condition. The flaw involved the handling of the U85-only NPU_OP_RESIZE command, which was not implemented but caused unbounded kernel log spam and could lead to a kernel panic if panic_on_warn was enabled. This issue has been fixed by replacing the unconditional warning with an explicit error return, preventing the command from reaching hardware.
