AI-suggested
A fix is available and included in linux-hwe-edge kernel versions 7.0.0-31.31 and later for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and related releases. Users should upgrade to these fixed versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation actions are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A buffer overflow vulnerability in the Linux kernel's accel/ivpu component was addressed by adding a check to ensure the size of data returned by the metric stream info query does not exceed the allocated buffer size. If the firmware returns a size larger than the buffer, the operation is rejected to prevent incorrect buffer copying. This flaw affects multiple specific versions of the linux-hwe-edge kernel and has been fixed in later releases.
