AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-1064.67~22.04.1 and later. Users should upgrade to these fixed kernel versions or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required as the issue is resolved by the official patch.

Description

A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) subsystem was fixed. The issue occurs in the register_shm_helper() function, which allocates shared memory (shm) before calling iov_iter_npages(). If iov_iter_npages() returns zero, the function incorrectly jumps to an error path that leaks the allocated shm. This can be triggered by the TEE_IOC_SHM_REGISTER ioctl with a zero-length parameter. The vulnerability has been addressed in Linux kernel versions starting from 6.8.0-1064.67~22.04.1 and later.
