AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released in linux-hwe-edge kernel versions starting from 7.0.0-31.31 and later. Users should upgrade to these fixed versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official kernel updates.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfilter nft_meta_bridge module caused a stale stack leak via the IIFHWADDR register. The issue arises because the destination register is declared with a length of 6 bytes but internally rounded to 8 bytes, leading to 2 bytes of uninitialized stack memory being leaked to userspace. This flaw has been fixed by zeroing the full register before copying data. The vulnerability affects specific linux-hwe-edge kernel versions and has been addressed in fixed releases starting with version 7.0.0-31.31 and later.
