AI-suggested
A patch is available and included in Ubuntu kernel versions 5.15.0-1116.123~20.04.1 and later. Users should update their systems to these fixed kernel versions and reboot to apply the changes. Due to an ABI change, recompilation and reinstallation of all third-party kernel modules are required. Follow the vendor advisory instructions for proper update procedures.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mvpp2 network driver was resolved by limiting the XDP frame size to the actual RX buffer size. The issue involved the XDP path initializing buffers with PAGE_SIZE regardless of the actual buffer size, which could allow memory corruption or trigger skb tailroom checks. This flaw was fixed by initializing the XDP buffer with the correct fragment size. The vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions used in Ubuntu and was addressed in updated kernel packages requiring a system reboot and recompilation of third-party kernel modules.
