AI-suggested
A fix is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-146.146, 7.0.0-31.31, and later. Users should upgrade to these fixed versions or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required as the issue is resolved by the official patch.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel ALSA PCM subsystem caused wait queue list corruption during snd_pcm_drain() on linked streams, leading to kernel panic. The issue arises from improper handling of wait queue entries during concurrent unlink operations, resulting in corrupted wait queues and a NULL pointer dereference on wake-up. This flaw has been fixed by replacing the problematic wait queue handling functions with safer alternatives that properly clear and auto-remove wait entries.
