AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The fix moves the ndesc initialization to the end of the initialization routine and adjusts memory allocation order to prevent NULL pointer dereference and memory leaks. Users should update to a fixed kernel version as provided by their Linux distribution vendor. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's airoha network driver was fixed by adjusting the initialization sequence in the airoha_qdma_init_rx_queue() function. The flaw could cause a NULL pointer dereference during cleanup if queue entry or DMA descriptor list allocation failed, due to premature initialization of the ndesc variable. This could lead to a denial of service by crashing the kernel. The issue has been resolved by moving the ndesc initialization to the end of the initialization routine and adjusting memory allocation order to prevent leaks.
