A fix is available in Linux kernel versions 7.0.0-31.31 and later as listed. Users should update to these fixed versions to resolve the issue. No additional mitigation steps are required as the patch addresses the root cause.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's i2c_imx driver caused a system crash due to improper handling of clock and pinctrl states during runtime power management. Specifically, if switching the pinctrl state to sleep failed after the clock was disabled, the clock remained disabled, leading to hardware access failures and system crashes. This issue has been fixed by reordering operations to ensure the pinctrl state is switched before disabling the clock, maintaining hardware accessibility even if pinctrl state switching fails.
