An official fix is available and has been released in updated Linux kernel versions. Users should apply the vendor-provided patches to affected kernel versions to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigations are required beyond applying the official update.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's KVM SEV implementation allows a malicious SEV-SNP guest to perform out-of-bounds reads and writes in the host kernel heap memory. This occurs due to improper validation of guest-controlled buffer sizes and entry ranges in the GHCB scratch area, leading to heap corruption and information leakage. The flaw affects multiple kernel versions and has been addressed by requiring the scratch area to reside in the GHCB's shared buffer as per the GHCB specification.
