AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1112.119 and later related releases. Users and administrators should update affected Linux kernel versions to these fixed releases to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's UDF filesystem code allows crafted UDF images with oversized CRC length descriptors to bypass CRC validation. This occurs because the function udf_read_tagged() skips CRC verification when the descriptor's CRC length plus the tag size exceeds the block size, accepting descriptors based only on a weak 8-bit checksum. This flaw has been fixed in Linux kernel versions starting from 5.15.0-1112.119 and related releases.
