AI-suggested

A patch is available for this vulnerability. Users should update their linux-aws kernel packages to versions 6.8.0-1061.64~22.04.1 or later as provided by their vendor. After updating, a system reboot is required to apply the fix. Due to ABI changes, recompilation and reinstallation of third-party kernel modules may be necessary. Follow vendor instructions for updating and rebuilding kernel modules.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMDGPU driver was resolved by zero-initializing the GART table on allocation to prevent stale or uninitialized page table entries (PTEs) from being used by the GPU. The flaw involved speculative loading of uninitialized entries from the same cacheline, potentially causing the GPU to use stale garbage PTEs. This issue was fixed by calling memset_io() to zero-initialize the GART table immediately after allocation. The vulnerability affects certain versions of the linux-aws kernel prior to 6.8.0-1061.64~22.04.1 and related versions. A patch is available and should be applied to mitigate the risk.
