AI-suggested
A patch is available and included in official Linux kernel updates distributed by Ubuntu and other vendors. Users should apply the latest kernel updates and reboot their systems to ensure the fix is active. Due to ABI changes, recompilation and reinstallation of third-party kernel modules may be required. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's FUSE subsystem was resolved. The issue occurs because fuse_try_move_folio() unlocks a request on entry but does not re-lock it on the success path, allowing fuse_chan_abort() to free memory while it is still accessed. This flaw could lead to memory corruption and privilege escalation. The vulnerability has a high severity with a CVSS score of 7.8. A patch is available and included in recent Linux kernel updates. Users should update their systems and reboot to apply the fix.
