Published: 07/09/2026 (07/09/2026, 18:42:00 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: getkirby
Product: kirby

Description

Kirby is an open-source content management system. Prior to 4.9.4 and 5.4.4, Kirby sites with content.fileRedirects enabled could redirect unauthenticated clean file URL requests for files stored in top-level draft pages to physical media URLs without checking page access permissions or preview tokens, leading to disclosure of draft file contents. This issue is fixed in versions 4.9.4 and 5.4.4.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-54004 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the getkirby kirby CMS. When content.fileRedirects is enabled, unauthenticated requests for files stored in top-level draft pages are redirected to physical media URLs without verifying page access permissions or preview tokens. This results in unauthorized disclosure of draft file contents. The vulnerability affects versions prior to 4.9.4 and 5.4.4 and has been addressed in those fixed versions.

Potential Impact

An attacker can access draft file contents that should be restricted, leading to potential exposure of sensitive or unpublished media files. This unauthorized disclosure could compromise confidentiality of draft content on affected Kirby CMS sites with the vulnerable configuration.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Kirby CMS to version 4.9.4 or later, or 5.4.4 or later, where this authorization issue has been fixed. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is documented. Patch status is confirmed fixed in these versions.
