Published: 07/17/2026 (07/17/2026, 20:22:35 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: statamic
Product: cms

Description

Statamic is a Laravel and Git powered content management system (CMS). Prior to 5.74.0 and 6.20.3, the Live Preview endpoint for existing entries and terms in src/Http/Controllers/CP/PreviewController.php only checked view authorization, but it accepts and renders caller-supplied field values. A Control Panel user with view but not edit permission could therefore submit content they were not authorized to author and generate a shareable Live Preview URL rendering it. This issue is fixed in versions 5.74.0 and 6.20.3.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-54244 describes an incorrect authorization vulnerability (CWE-863) in Statamic CMS's Live Preview endpoint located in src/Http/Controllers/CP/PreviewController.php. The endpoint improperly checks only view permissions but accepts caller-supplied field values for rendering. Consequently, Control Panel users with view but not edit permissions can submit unauthorized content and generate shareable preview URLs displaying that content. This vulnerability affects versions prior to 5.74.0 and 6.20.3 and has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 3.5 (low severity).

Potential Impact

An attacker with view-only permissions can submit and render content they are not authorized to edit, potentially exposing unauthorized or manipulated content via shareable Live Preview URLs. There is no direct confidentiality or availability impact reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

This vulnerability is fixed in Statamic CMS versions 5.74.0 and 6.20.3. Users should upgrade to these or later versions to remediate the issue. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor's versioning information. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
