Vendor/Project: grokability
Product: snipe-it

Description

CVE-2026-55462 is an authorization vulnerability in Snipe-IT, an IT asset/license management system. Versions prior to 8.6.2 improperly authorize access in UsersController::show() and printInventory() functions, allowing authenticated users with only users.view permission to access inventory and cost/order metadata that should be restricted. This issue is fixed in version 8.6.2. The vulnerability has a medium severity with a CVSS score of 4.3.

Technical Analysis

Snipe-IT versions before 8.6.2 contain an incorrect authorization flaw (CWE-863) in the UsersController::show() and printInventory() methods. These methods authorize only user viewing before loading and rendering assigned license, accessory, and consumable relationships. As a result, an authenticated user with the users.view permission can access inventory and cost/order metadata from modules that should require additional permissions. This issue is resolved in version 8.6.2.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user with limited permissions (users.view) can view inventory and cost/order metadata that should be restricted, potentially exposing sensitive asset management information. There is no impact on integrity or availability reported. The confidentiality impact is limited but unauthorized data disclosure is possible.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to Snipe-IT version 8.6.2 or later where this authorization issue is fixed. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor stating the fix is in version 8.6.2.
