Published: 08/05/2026 (08/05/2026, 19:26:22 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: MervinPraison
Product: PraisonAI

Description

PraisonAI versions 1.5.128 through 1.6.57 contain a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the web_crawl() function. The vulnerability arises because the function validates only the initially supplied URL but does not revalidate intermediate or final redirect targets, allowing attackers to bypass restrictions and access internal or cloud metadata endpoints. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.58.

Technical Analysis

The praisonaiagents.tools.web_crawl_tools.web_crawl() function in PraisonAI versions 1.5.128 through 1.6.57 is vulnerable to SSRF due to incomplete validation of redirect targets. While the initial URL is checked to block loopback and private destinations, the httpx.Client fallback follows redirects without revalidating the destination hosts. An attacker controlling the input URL can supply a public URL that redirects to internal or cloud metadata endpoints, causing the server to fetch and return sensitive internal data. This vulnerability is a bypass of a previously disclosed SSRF fix (CVE-2026-40160) and is addressed in version 1.6.58.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this SSRF vulnerability to cause the server to make unauthorized requests to internal network resources, including loopback, private network, or cloud metadata endpoints. This can lead to unauthorized data disclosure or further internal network reconnaissance. The vulnerability does not require authentication or user interaction and has a high severity score of 7.7.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade PraisonAI to version 1.6.58 or later, where this SSRF vulnerability has been fixed by properly validating redirect targets. No other mitigations are specified. Patch status is not explicitly stated in the vendor advisory, but the fix is confirmed in version 1.6.58.
