AI-suggested

Upgrade to HeliumEdu platform version 2.2.60 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed by blocking SVG and HTML attachments. Until then, restrict or monitor attachment uploads to prevent SVG and HTML file uploads. No other vendor advisories or patches are provided. Patch status is confirmed fixed in 2.2.60.

Description

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the HeliumEdu platform prior to version 2.2.60. Authenticated users can upload SVG and HTML attachments via the POST /planner/attachments/ endpoint because these formats are not blocked. Uploaded SVG files served as image/svg+xml can execute embedded scripts when accessed via their public URLs, enabling persistent attacker-controlled active content and phishing. The attachment storage is on a separate origin, preventing script access to application cookies or session data. This vulnerability is fixed in version 2.2.60.
