Published: 07/10/2026 (07/10/2026, 20:22:26 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: rabbitmq
Product: rabbitmq-server

Description

RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. Prior to 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, and 4.2.6, the obsolete GET /api/auth endpoint can disclose the OAuth 2 client secret on RabbitMQ installations configured with management.oauth_client_secret, exposing credentials to unauthenticated callers when the management plugin and that OAuth configuration are enabled. This issue is fixed in versions 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, and 4.2.6.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-57219 is a CWE-200 vulnerability affecting rabbitmq-server where the obsolete GET /api/auth endpoint discloses the OAuth 2 client secret if the management plugin and management.oauth_client_secret configuration are enabled. Versions prior to 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, and 4.2.6 are affected. The vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to obtain sensitive OAuth credentials, potentially compromising the security of the RabbitMQ installation. The issue is resolved in the fixed versions listed.

Potential Impact

Exposure of the OAuth 2 client secret to unauthenticated actors can lead to unauthorized access or misuse of OAuth credentials, undermining the security of RabbitMQ installations configured with management.oauth_client_secret. This can facilitate further attacks or unauthorized access to messaging infrastructure.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade rabbitmq-server to version 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, or 4.2.6 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. There is no official remediation level stated beyond these fixed versions. Patch status is confirmed by the version fixes listed. If upgrading immediately is not possible, consider disabling the management.oauth_client_secret configuration or the management plugin to prevent exposure until patched.
