Technical Analysis

The Jenkins Assembla Plugin up to version 1.4 does not properly configure its XML parser to prevent XXE attacks. This vulnerability enables attackers with control over the configured Assembla server's responses to exploit the plugin, potentially extracting sensitive information from the Jenkins controller or causing server-side request forgery. The vulnerability is publicly known but lacks a CVSS score and official remediation details.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to unauthorized disclosure of secrets stored on the Jenkins controller and enable server-side request forgery attacks. This compromises the confidentiality and potentially the integrity of the Jenkins environment where the vulnerable plugin is installed.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the Jenkins controller and the configured Assembla server to trusted parties only to reduce the risk of exploitation.
