Published: 07/20/2026 (07/20/2026, 22:01:43 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: agenticmail
Product: @agenticmail/api

Description

AgenticMail's @agenticmail/api prior to version 0.9.64 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability. A low-privileged authenticated agent can enumerate and manipulate tasks assigned to other agents by exploiting the ability to supply arbitrary agent names to a task listing endpoint. This breaks the intended capability-based access control model, allowing unauthorized task claims and modifications. The issue is fixed in version 0.9.64.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-57494 describes an authorization bypass vulnerability in the @agenticmail/api component of AgenticMail before version 0.9.64. Authenticated agents with low privileges can enumerate pending or claimed tasks of other agents by specifying the target agent's name in the GET /api/agenticmail/tasks/pending?assignee=<name> endpoint. Since agent names can be discovered via the accounts directory endpoint, task IDs cease to be secret capabilities. These task IDs can then be used with task mutation endpoints to claim, complete, or fail tasks assigned to other agents, violating authorization controls. The vulnerability is addressed in version 0.9.64.

Potential Impact

An attacker with low-privileged authenticated access can enumerate and manipulate tasks assigned to other agents, potentially disrupting task workflows or causing unauthorized task completion or failure. This compromises the integrity of task assignments and the authorization model within AgenticMail's API.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to version 0.9.64 or later, where this authorization bypass vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the advisory, but the fix is stated to be in version 0.9.64.
