Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in pretix-mollie arises from improper enforcement of behavioral workflow (CWE-841) in the payment status validation process. Specifically, the system accepts a successful payment status response from one payment and incorrectly applies it to different payments, enabling attackers to gain unauthorized access to multiple tickets with a single payment confirmation. This issue affects versions before 2.5.6 and has a CVSS 4.0 base score of 6.3, indicating medium severity. There is no vendor advisory or patch available at this time.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to bypass proper payment verification, effectively obtaining multiple valid tickets while only making one payment. This can lead to financial loss and unauthorized access to events or services tied to the tickets. There is no indication of remote code execution or data disclosure beyond ticket fraud.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, users should monitor official pretix communications for updates. No official patch or workaround has been published at this time.
