Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-57946 describes a broken access control vulnerability in Invidious before version 2.20260626.0. This flaw permits unauthenticated attackers to supply a playlist ID to the RSS feed playlist endpoint and retrieve private playlist contents, the owner's email address, and video entries without any authentication or authorization checks.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability exposes private playlist data and owner email addresses to unauthenticated attackers, potentially leading to privacy breaches and unauthorized disclosure of user information. There is no indication of remote code execution or system compromise, but sensitive user data confidentiality is impacted.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since the vulnerability is fixed starting from version 2.20260626.0, upgrading to this version or later is recommended once official patches or releases are available. Until then, restrict access to the RSS feed playlist endpoint if possible.
