Published: 07/15/2026 (07/15/2026, 17:03:38 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: SpecterOps
Product: BloodHound

Description

BloodHound through 9.4.0, fixed in commit 8f79035, contains a missing authorization vulnerability in the custom-nodes API endpoints that allows any authenticated user to modify the global graph schema. Attackers with valid session tokens can create, update, or delete custom node types affecting all users and tenants by invoking unprotected POST, PUT, and DELETE operations on the custom-nodes endpoints.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-59255 is a missing authorization vulnerability in SpecterOps BloodHound through version 9.4.0. The issue resides in the custom-nodes API endpoints, which lack proper authorization checks. Authenticated users can exploit this to modify the global graph schema by invoking unprotected POST, PUT, and DELETE requests, impacting all users and tenants. The vulnerability was fixed in a commit identified as 8f79035, but no formal remediation level or patch link is provided in the available data.

Potential Impact

An attacker with any valid session token can modify the global graph schema by creating, updating, or deleting custom node types. This affects all users and tenants of the BloodHound instance, potentially leading to unauthorized changes in the graph data that could disrupt normal operations or mislead analysis. The CVSS 4.0 score of 7.1 indicates a high severity due to network attack vector, low attack complexity, no user interaction, and high impact on integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. The vulnerability was fixed in a commit after version 9.4.0, so upgrading to a version including this commit is recommended once available. Until then, restrict access to authenticated users carefully and monitor for unauthorized schema modifications.
