Published: 10/16/2026 (10/16/2026, 16:52:49 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: TandoorRecipes
Product: recipes

Description

Tandoor Recipes versions prior to 2.6.10 improperly handle user-supplied ordering parameters in database queries, allowing authenticated users to traverse related tables via Django ORM order_by calls. This flaw can leak sensitive information such as password hashes, email addresses, and administrator status from related User fields. The vulnerability is fixed in version 2.6.10.

Technical Analysis

Tandoor Recipes before version 2.6.10 passes unvalidated sort_order and order_field strings into Django ORM order_by() calls when processing authenticated user requests involving recipe search, RecipeBook, or stored CustomFilter ordering. Because Django interprets double-underscore notation as related-table traversal, attackers can craft ordering parameters to access related User table fields. This results in information disclosure of sensitive user data including password hashes, emails, and admin status. The issue is tracked as CWE-943 (Improper Neutralization of Special Elements in Data Query Logic) and has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 6.5. The vulnerability is resolved in version 2.6.10.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user can exploit this vulnerability to infer sensitive information from related User database fields, including password hashes, email addresses, and administrator status. This leads to a confidentiality breach but does not affect integrity or availability. There are no known exploits in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Tandoor Recipes to version 2.6.10 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
