Critical
Published: 08/04/2026 (08/04/2026, 15:32:23 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Puwell Technology Inc.
Product: IP Camera

Description

Puwell Technology Inc. IP Cameras running firmware versions 2.x through 3.0.0 (exclusive) contain an unauthenticated command injection vulnerability. This flaw allows remote attackers to send crafted JSON payloads to the DebugShell interface on TCP port 34567, resulting in arbitrary OS command execution with root privileges. The vulnerability arises from lack of authentication and input sanitization in the binary protocol service, enabling complete device compromise. The CVSS 4.0 score is 9.3, indicating critical severity. No official patch or remediation guidance is currently available from the vendor. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-61515 affects Puwell IP Camera firmware versions >=2.0.0 and <3.0.0. The vulnerability is an unauthenticated command injection via the DebugShell interface exposed on TCP port 34567. Attackers can send specially crafted JSON payloads that bypass authentication and input validation, allowing them to execute arbitrary operating system commands as root. This leads to full device compromise. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 score of 9.3 (critical). No vendor advisory or patch information is currently available, and no known exploits have been reported in the wild.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in root-level code execution on affected devices, allowing attackers to fully compromise the IP camera. This could lead to unauthorized control, data theft, or use of the device in further attacks. The vulnerability requires no authentication and has a network attack vector, increasing its risk.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict network access to the DebugShell interface on TCP port 34567 to trusted sources only, and monitor for unusual activity targeting this port.
