Published: 09/08/2026 (09/08/2026, 14:27:45 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Netis Systems
Product: NX10

Description

Netis NX10 firmware versions 4.0.1.5808 and 3.0.0.4142 contain an OS command injection vulnerability in the ping diagnostic handler. Authenticated administrators can exploit this by injecting arbitrary shell commands via the IpAddr parameter, which is improperly sanitized. The vulnerability arises because the parameter is directly used in a system() call with an incomplete denylist that blocks only certain characters but leaves others exploitable.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-61517 is an OS command injection vulnerability affecting Netis NX10 firmware versions 4.0.1.5808 and 3.0.0.4142. The flaw exists in the ping diagnostic handler where the IpAddr parameter is interpolated directly into a shell command executed via system(). The input filtering uses an incomplete denylist that blocks spaces, pipes, semicolons, and ampersands but fails to block command substitution and alternate field separator expansions. This allows authenticated administrators to execute arbitrary shell commands as root on the device.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated administrator to execute arbitrary shell commands with root privileges on the affected device. This can lead to full system compromise, unauthorized control, and potential disruption of network operations. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict administrative access to trusted personnel only and avoid using the vulnerable ping diagnostic feature. Monitor vendor communications for updates on official patches or mitigations.
