AI-suggested

A patch is available and has been released in multiple Linux kernel versions starting from 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and similar versions. Users should update to these fixed kernel versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required as the issue is resolved by the official fix.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's block subsystem allowed userspace to mount the bdev pseudo-filesystem, which is intended to be internal and inaccessible to userspace. This could lead to a kernel NULL pointer dereference and system crash due to dereferencing zero pointers in inode operations. The issue has been fixed by unregistering the bdev pseudo-filesystem so it cannot be mounted by userspace.
