An official fix is available and should be applied. The patch clears stale pointers before freeing the framebuffer modelist, preventing use-after-free conditions. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes this fix as indicated in the vendor advisory.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's framebuffer device (fbdev) subsystem was fixed. The issue occurs in the store_modes() function, which replaces a framebuffer's modelist with modes from userspace. After freeing the old modelist, two pointers (fb_display[i].mode and fb_info->mode) may still reference the freed memory, leading to use-after-free reads. This can happen when consoles are unmapped or when the mode sysfs attribute is read. The fix clears these pointers before freeing the list to prevent stale references.
