AI-suggested

A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The fix enforces CAP_NET_ADMIN capability checks in the tunnel's network namespace during changelink operations, preventing unauthorized tunnel modifications. Users should update to patched kernel versions as per vendor advisories. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ip_gre module allowed a caller with CAP_NET_ADMIN capability in one network namespace to rewrite a GRE tunnel that resides in a different network namespace without proper authorization. This was due to insufficient capability checks in the changelink operation. The issue has been resolved by adding stricter CAP_NET_ADMIN checks in the relevant network namespaces during tunnel link changes.
