A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions as provided by the vendor. The Ubuntu security advisory USN-8726-1 includes fixes for this and other kernel vulnerabilities. Users should update their systems to the fixed kernel versions to mitigate this issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mac80211 wireless subsystem was fixed, where the ieee80211_parse_tx_radiotap() function improperly uses an antenna index from user-supplied radiotap headers as a shift count without bounds checking. This can cause undefined behavior due to out-of-bounds bit shifting. The flaw was addressed by limiting the antenna index to valid values. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available.
