AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should apply the official kernel updates from their Linux distribution vendors to remediate this issue. Since this is not a cloud service, remediation depends on patching the affected kernel versions. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; therefore, check the vendor advisory or distribution security notices for the exact patched versions and update accordingly.

Description

A race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) Graphics Execution Manager (GEM) subsystem was resolved. The issue involved a timing window where the old handle remained live in the IDR (ID Radix tree) after releasing a lock, allowing a concurrent deletion to free the GEM object while still referenced by a new handle. This could lead to use-after-free conditions. The fix nullifies the old handle's IDR entry before releasing the lock to prevent concurrent operations from accessing freed memory.
