A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms fixes have been released. No additional mitigation is indicated beyond applying the official kernel updates.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Fibre Channel transport (scsi_transport_fc) was resolved by widening a loop counter from 8-bit to 32-bit to prevent an infinite loop condition triggered by crafted FPIN ELS frames. Exploitation requires the ability to inject Fibre Channel fabric traffic, such as from a compromised switch or fabric controller. This flaw could cause denial of service by causing the kernel to hang. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available to address this issue.
