AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released in multiple Linux kernel versions including 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and others. Systems should be updated to these fixed kernel versions or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official kernel updates and rebooting the system.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's FCoE (Fibre Channel over Ethernet) driver allows an unauthenticated Layer 2 peer on the FCoE control VLAN to cause a denial of service by sending a malformed FIP CVL frame with a zero-length non-critical descriptor. This causes an infinite loop in the fcoe_ctlr_recv_work function, hanging the controller and blocking subsequent FIP frames. The issue is fixed by rejecting descriptors with lengths smaller than the minimum descriptor header size.
