A patch addressing this vulnerability is available and should be applied promptly. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that updates fixing this issue have been released. Users should update to Linux kernel versions 7.0.0-28.28 or later, or the corresponding patched versions listed in the advisory. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB gadget composite driver allows an integer underflow in WebUSB GET_URL handling. This occurs when the host-supplied wLength is smaller than the descriptor header length, causing an unsigned subtraction wrap and leading to an out-of-bounds memory copy. This memory corruption flaw affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28 and specific other versions. A patch is available to address this issue.
