A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been resolved. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as provided by their distribution. No additional mitigations are indicated beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A use-after-free (UAF) vulnerability in the Linux kernel's dma-buf subsystem was fixed. The issue occurs in the dma_buf_fd() tracepoint where a file descriptor can be closed by a racing thread after FD_ADD() returns but before the tracepoint runs, leading to a use-after-free condition. The fix involves splitting FD_ADD() into get_unused_fd_flags() and fd_install() and placing the tracepoint between them to prevent the race. This vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions and has a CVSS score of 7.8.
