A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes this fix to mitigate the vulnerability.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's xpad input driver allowed out-of-bounds memory access when processing Share button input packets. The flaw occurred because the function xpadone_process_packet() used the packet length directly to index data bytes without proper bounds checking, enabling a malformed controller to cause invalid memory access. This issue has been fixed by adding offset calculations and bounds checks. The vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28 and several specific older versions. A patch is available to address this issue.
