An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to address this vulnerability. The patch replaces unsafe pointer usage with a reference-counted hold operation to prevent use-after-free. Users should update their Linux kernel to versions including this fix as per the vendor advisory. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability (CVE-2026-63946) was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel Bluetooth ISO subsystem. The flaw occurs in the iso_recv_frame function where a socket pointer is used after the associated lock is released, allowing concurrent operations to free the socket and cause use-after-free on socket state and queue functions. This vulnerability has a high severity with a CVSS score of 8.8. Multiple Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available that replaces the unsafe pointer usage with a reference-counted hold operation to prevent the use-after-free condition.
