A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this issue is fixed in updated kernel releases. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to prevent kernel panics caused by this flaw.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's memory management vmalloc subsystem could cause a BUG() panic when bottom halves (BH) are disabled but the system is not in a hard IRQ or NMI context. This occurs because the __get_vm_area_node() function incorrectly uses in_interrupt() to detect interrupt context, which returns true when BH are disabled. The check has been corrected to use in_nmi() or in_hardirq() instead, preventing unnecessary kernel panics.
