A patch is available and included in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-1066.69 and later. Users and administrators should update to these fixed kernel versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation actions are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB Type-C driver (tcpm/tcpci_maxim) allows a broken or malicious USB Type-C port to send a frame with a header indicating more data objects than are actually present, causing the kernel to read uninitialized stack memory. This issue has been fixed in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0 and later.
