An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The fix zero-initializes the stack buffer in the bmp580_trigger_handler() function to prevent uninitialized stack memory leakage. Users should update to a patched kernel version as per the vendor advisory.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's bmp280 pressure sensor driver was fixed by zero-initializing a stack buffer to prevent leakage of uninitialized stack memory. The issue involved the bmp580_trigger_handler() function copying 24-bit sensor data into a 32-bit field without properly initializing the high byte, causing two bytes of stack memory to be exposed to userspace per scan. This was a regression introduced when the buffer was moved from private data to a stack-local structure. A patch is available that corrects this by zero-initializing the stack structure.
