A patch is available and should be applied promptly. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this issue has been fixed in updated Linux kernel packages. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to mitigate this vulnerability.
Description
A race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel SCTP implementation was fixed. The issue occurs when sctp_wait_for_connect() drops and re-acquires the socket lock while waiting for an association to reach the ESTABLISHED state, allowing another thread to peel off the association to a new socket. This causes sctp_wait_for_connect() to return success incorrectly, leading to access under the wrong lock. The flaw was addressed by adding a check to detect association migration and return an error if it occurred during the wait.
