A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this vulnerability has been resolved. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as provided by their Linux distribution. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mac80211 WiFi subsystem allows a connected WiFi 7 access point to trigger an out-of-bounds read by sending a crafted EPCS Enable Response action frame. This causes the kernel to dereference an invalid pointer and crash. The issue arises from improper bounds checking of the link_id index in the ieee80211_ml_epcs code. The flaw has been resolved in patched Linux kernel versions.
