AI-suggested

A vendor-provided patch is available and should be applied promptly to all affected linux-aws kernel versions. The vulnerability is fixed in linux-aws kernel versions 7.0.0-28.28~24.04.1 and later. Applying this official fix fully mitigates the risk. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

A use-after-free (UAF) vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's af_unix subsystem within the function unix_stream_data_wait(). This flaw occurs due to a race condition when peeking and receiving data concurrently on the same socket, leading to dereferencing a freed socket buffer pointer. The vulnerability affects multiple linux-aws kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28~24.04.1 and related builds. A patch addressing this issue is available and should be applied to mitigate the risk.
