A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to correct the size and pointer arguments in the Bluetooth L2CAP ecred_reconfigure function. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue is fixed in updated kernel releases. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to prevent kernel stack information leakage via Bluetooth.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Bluetooth L2CAP subsystem was fixed, where a coding error caused kernel stack memory to be leaked to a paired Bluetooth peer. This occurred due to incorrect use of a flexible array macro, resulting in sending a pointer's stack address instead of the intended request data. The flaw broke the L2CAP_ECRED_RECONFIGURE feature and exposed kernel stack addresses, potentially aiding an attacker in information disclosure. The issue has been patched in affected Linux kernel versions.
