Description
CVE-2026-64294 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to file ownership checks using improper mount idmap handling. The flaw occurs because inode ownership checks in certain memory management operations (mincore() and madvise(MADV_PAGEOUT)) were performed against a default idmap that ignores the file's actual mount idmap. This can cause incorrect permission checks in edge cases involving idmapped mounts, potentially leading to improper access control behavior. The issue has been fixed in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-147.147 and later.
