AI-suggested

A patch is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later. Users and administrators should upgrade affected Linux kernel versions to these fixed releases to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigations are specified by the vendor advisory.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's exFAT filesystem driver (exfat_find_dir_entry function) allows out-of-bounds read and write operations due to improper bounds checking when processing fragmented file names. This flaw can be triggered by crafted directory entries with many short name fragments, causing memory corruption. The issue has been fixed in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later.
